Brief Description

The Wisconsin Talking Book and Braille Library (WTBBL) is part of the Library of Congress National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) network of cooperating libraries. WTBBL provides audio books, playback equipment, and brailled materials free of charge to persons, living in Wisconsin, who cannot see or handle regular print materials. WTBBL patrons receive and return books and equipment, postage-free through the U.S. Postal Service. In addition, WTBBL circulates audio books and brailled materials about Wisconsin or by Wisconsin authors, as well as audio-described videotapes and DVDs.

Services Offered

  • Reading Services
    • NFB-Newsline is a special service to Wisconsin residents that offers users the opportunity to "read" newspapers from any touch-tone telephone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Library Services
    • As part of a national network cooperating with the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), the Wisconsin Talking Book and Braille Library (WTBBL) provides audio books, the digital playback equipment, and brailled materials to persons, living in Wisconsin, who cannot see regular print or handle print materials. The WTBBL also circulates audio-described videotapes and DVDs. WTBBL patrons receive and return books and equipment, postage-free through the U.S. Postal Service.
